Duties and Responsibilities
1. General Background
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system’s designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.
The Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) is a global community of policy, business, and finance professionals and organisations committed to collaboratively generating, managing, and sharing knowledge on the transition to an inclusive green economy. The GGKP is led by UNEP, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the World Bank).
The mission of GGKP is to empower government decision makers, companies and financial institutions with evidence-based knowledge that can best support them to contribute effectively to the green economy transition. The GGKP provides its best practice knowledge management services through its three core platforms, the Green Policy Platform, the Green Industry Platform, and the Green Finance Platform.
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) programme, “Financing Agrochemical Reduction and Management (FARM) is a new GEF funded programme that aims to strengthen the sound management of agricultural chemicals and their waste, through better control, and reduction and / or elimination. The FARM programme is being implemented by UNEP with GGKP as an executing agency for the Global Child Project.
A branding and graphic design consultant is sought to fill the need of the UNEP Resources and Markets Branch to assist in developing of brand identities and graphic assets across GGKP platforms and the GEF FARM programme. The work of this consultancy entails the creation of branding materials, graphic design and layout, and editing of web pages, blogs, news articles and other communications resources.

For GGKP Platforms:
- Develop templates for GGKP promotional assets, including social media cards, reports, presentations, and fact sheets;
- Develop brand guidelines for the Green Industry Platform’s I-GO initiative (www.igosolution.org);
- Lay out GGKP reports, with graphic creation, for publication;
- Provide ad hoc support to the GGKP team on graphic creation for events and other promotional activities.
For the FARM project:
- Develop the FARM brand, in consultation with project team and partners, including logo, mark, primary and secondary typeface, and color palette;
- Create the FARM brand book with clear guidelines on how to properly use the visual identity and brand assets;
- Develop templates for media cards, press releases, infographics, reports, and other assets for the FARM project;
- Develop graphics and web-page layouts for the FARM website based on FARM brand book;
- Lay out FARM strategies and programmatic reports, with graphic creation, for publication.
A bachelor’s degree in the field of graphic design is required.
Note: Two examples of past work on brand development that are aligned with the FARM project’s topical areas of chemicals, agriculture, finance, and plastics and/or focus on development support should be provided as supporting documentation.
Languages
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in graphic design is required.
- Experience developing or revitalizing a brand is required
- Experience working with international organizations is preferred.
- Experience working in the context of agrochemicals, finance and/or sustainability is preferred.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
