I. Background

Project information

In the project “Journalism of the Future”, DW Akademie is supporting organizations in Pakistan to provide training and consultancy to journalists in the fields of Media Viability and Media and Journalism Education. Furthermore, DW Akademie is supporting displaced people and migrants to develop community communication skills. The project is currently under review by the donor.

II. Scope of work

The Project Associate will be responsible for the overall management of the Pakistan office of DW Akademie and for supporting DW Akademie’s partners around Finance and Administration.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in project budget development and regular reviews.
  • Assist project partners with financial reporting and documentation.
  • Prepare financial reports to be processed by HQ in Germany.
  • Facilitate the communication and financial processes between the finance department in Germany and partners in Pakistan.
  • Coordinate with companies, government offices and project partners. - Provide logistical and informational support to local and international staff.
  • Manage logistics, procurement, and daily record keeping. - Digitize and store official data to ensure data protection and accessibility.

Other duties and responsibilities beyond the ones mentioned above may be required.

III. Requirements and Qualifications

Mandatory

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or any other comparable qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience in administration and financial management, including budget management and reporting.
  • Good understanding and track record of experience in dealing with tax matters, including applicable taxes on procurements, contracts fee/remunerations, services, and other local expenses.
  • Experience in dealing with FBR and SECP for tax-related matters, e.g., filing tax returns. - Experience of working with an international organization for the tasks mentioned under “scope of work”
  • Sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics in the workplace.
  • Must be a self-starter, resourceful, a good problem-solver, and flexible.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to time planning.
  • Understanding of international media development, its most pressing topics and main actors in the field.

Desirable

  • Knowledge about Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA)
  • Knowledge about the role of media development within the context of migration and journalism education
