Position Summary:
The Geophysical Institute (GI) is seeking an experienced Operations Manager. As the main contact for research staff and faculty, the operations manager is the main point of contact for departments that support the fieldwork of Geophysical Institute Researchers across Alaska and the world. - Experience hiring, managing, motivating, evaluating, and training employees.
- Experience in chemical hygiene and Hazardous Materials Training.
- Ability to read floor plans.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding regulations that govern contracts/leases and permits and experience in negotiation.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to exercise analytical problem-solving.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and five years progressively responsible experience in facilities management, construction management, business management or equivalent combination of training and expertise.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
This position is full-time, Grade 80, continuing, exempt, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, based on education and experience.
This position will be physically located at the UAF campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. The successful finalist will be expected to report to duty at the UAF office on the first day of employment.
